Trading functions usually end with an transport. Transport process is complete only when the goods arrive to the consumer or end user. This is where the so-called freight broker (špeditersko posredovanje in Slovenian language) comes into play.
That the goods reach the consumer, they need to be physically relocated or transported. Forwarding transmission provides transport functions, which are implemented in the transport and linking the production and consumption, which allows to smooth the process of social reproduction. Transport alone, involves the transfer of goods, people, news, and energy from one place to another. Transport process involves a number of perpetrators, and each performs one or more operations, such as transportation, loading, unloading, storage, repackaging, control of quality … All these activities must be organized, synchronized and harmonized. This function is performed by the professional freight broker, whose main activity is organizing transport of goods from the supplier to the consumer, economical, efficiently and safely. The importance of mediation is to find optimal solutions for transportation, significantly lowering total cost of transportation, to assess the cost price of the goods and their competitiveness in the market.
The role played by the freight broker are choosing the best modes of transport and transfer within the agreed time, the provision of transport capacity, organization, control, monitoring of operational services, and ensuring that transport runs properly and accurately.
